The Grand Lodge of Texas charters Lockhart Lodge No. 690 on December 10.
Members lay the cornerstone of the Caldwell County Courthouse, which still stands on the Lockhart square.
We meet on the third Thursday of every month and give back to our community.
A fraternity built on brotherly love, relief, and truth.
Members use the symbols of stonemasons, such as the square and compasses, to reflect on how to live with integrity.
The lodge is where members meet. Each lodge is chartered by a Grand Lodge, and Lockhart Lodge No. 690 is under the Grand Lodge of Texas.
Charity is part of what Masons do. Lockhart Lodge No. 690 gives back through programs for local students and events that serve the whole town.

Every May, at the end of the school year, the lodge awards two $1,500 scholarships. Students do not apply to the lodge directly. They complete the general scholarship application from the Lockhart ISD counselors' office, and the lodge reviews those applications and selects the recipients.
24 bicycles a year
Each semester, two bicycles, one for a boy and one for a girl, go to students at every elementary school in Lockhart Independent School District.
Every first grader
Each year, the lodge gives a teeth cleaning kit to every first grader in Lockhart ISD.
Every quarter
In partnership with We Are Blood, the lodge hosts a blood drive on the Lockhart Downtown Square each quarter.
Each quarter, we team up with We Are Blood to bring its donation bus to the Lockhart Downtown Square, right beside the historic courthouse. Roll up your sleeve, or help spread the word.

Each semester, one boy and one girl at every Lockhart ISD elementary school receive a brand-new bicycle. Here are a few moments from past presentations.
The lodge also recognizes the people who make Lockhart a better place to live.
The lodge presents the Grand Lodge of Texas's Mirabeau B. Lamar Award of Excellence, named for the Father of Public Education in Texas. Usually three or four medals go to outstanding performers in Lockhart Independent School District, typically teachers, administrators, and staff members nominated by their peers.
Presented to an outstanding citizen or county official for exceptional service to the community. The most recent award, in 2026, went to Caldwell County Sheriff Mike Lane.
Honest answers to what people ask most.
No. Freemasonry is not a religion and does not replace one. A candidate must believe in God, and men of many faiths sit together in lodge. Religion and partisan politics are not discussed at meetings.
No. Our lodge is public, our members are free to say they are Masons, and we welcome questions. Like many fraternities, we keep our ritual and the ways members recognize one another private.
Men who are at least 18 years old, of good moral character and sound mind, who believe in God and ask to join of their own free will, and who have lived in Texas and in the lodge's area for at least six months. See the membership page for the steps.
Fees and annual dues are set by the lodge, within the minimums set by the Grand Lodge of Texas. Contact us for current amounts.
One stated meeting a month is the core. Beyond that, you decide how involved to be. New members spend some extra time on their degrees.
Yes. Stated meetings are for members, but you are welcome to join us for the meal at 6:30 p.m. before a meeting. Contact us first, and a member will meet you, answer your questions, and show you the lodge room.
